Derek and Clive: Never Work Safe

My pal Dave hipped me onto Derek and Clive (the filthy alter egos of Peter Cook and Dudley Moore) back in ’94, the same night Laurel and I had our first “date”. She brought this up after viewing a photo from one of her Flickr contacts, and, well, I just had to share:

Some of Dudley at his finest.

Nintendo DS Lite, Brain Age, Sudoku, etc.

After much anticipation and hemming and hawing over whether to drop the bigger bucks on an import version from Japan, the Nintendo DS Lite became available in North America earlier this week. Of course, I waited ’til pay day mid-week before scrambling to find a store that still had any left in stock. Thankfully, most were replenishing their stock throughout the day.

After figuring out the basics of Brain Age, I’m now not ashamed to post my current score:

brainage

I’ve also overcome the shyness of trying Sudoku and will now probably be spotted on public transit, lunchrooms and coffee shops with my nose buried in the DS.

Phase Three

As TMBG would say: when it rains, it snows.

Yet another track resulting from my on-going pursuit of GarageBand and playing around with some of the ideas and motifs of the NYC minimalist school. Laurel says Glass. I was kinda going for Reich.

Opening the GarageBand Door

I finally got ’round to buying myself an M-Audio keyboard to use with GarageBand, rather than pounding the hell out of the QWERTY by “typing” music. Here’s a few tracks that I’ve put together fairly quickly with just a basic knowledge of GB:

Confidence Man

Trembolo Tune

Five Piano Tracks
