Boogie Woogie Flu

Well, what can I say. The last half of last month was quite busy, hence no catching up on updating this site. The whole household became sick for the better part of a week, passing the flu back and forth. For those keeping score, Elliot brought this one home. Laurel’s got school projects coming out of her ears and has been on the computer almost every waking moment.

I gigged with Lisa last weekend in Hamilton, which was a lot of fun and also included a band trip to Denny’s at 3am. It took a couple of days to get the body clock back to somewhat normal, whatever that is. Rock ‘n Roll

Insert Witty Title Here

The weather here in the GTA has resorted back to the mugginess of summer. Rain has been looming for the last two days to no avail. Hopefully it’ll hold off until after we’re back from Elliot’s first field trip tomorrow with the daycare. Especially since we’re going to Chudleigh’s Farm for the day (hay rides, apple picking, pie – mmmm, apple pie). Plus, I’ll be using the shoelace express until the car is back from the shop tomorrow eve (just in time for Car Free Day this weekend – wasn’t planning that one). We’re hoping to do some biking this weekend regardless of what day the Adbusters Calendar instructs it to be.

Saving for Tuition

Today marks my thirteen year anniversary of working as a civil servant. Thirteenth anniversary on Friday the thirteenth? I decided to buy me a lottery ticket in hopes of not having to work for another thirteen years.

Elliot seems to be settling in with the daycare routine. It didn’t take him too long to start saying “bye” to Laurel in the morning as we split for the day. Yesterday was the first time that he wasn’t crying as I left him at the daycare centre. Must have had something to do with seeing some construction vehicles and equipment out the window as I was leaving. ‘Tis the season for it. That helped to not break my heart on the way to work.

Bruce McCulloch Better Not Show

Happy Birthday Terry!

Karaoke at the Gladstone Hotel tonight! Can’t think of a better way to end the week. Has anyone called dibs on “Snowbird” yet?

Jerry

Sad news in the local jazz scene. I found out from my father-in-law this morning that drummer Jerry Fuller had passed away in the last week. I was a big fan of his playing and used see him a lot when Laurel and I lived downtown. When I started playing jazz I would attempt to emulate his style from the records he played on and the gigs I saw. I hadn’t seen him in the last couple of years since becoming a Dad, and am sad to know that I won’t be.
