New digs, new features ‘n’ stuff

I’ve recently switched over Laughing Squid as the host for this site and decided to polish up stuff around here (back-end stuff, mostly) and throw up a new lick o’ paint. The archives page is now being handled by one simple, brilliant, little tag, and I’ve *finally* started using an embedded Flash player and plugin to handle my audio files, just so’s ‘yer not staring at a gray page, should you decide to listen to anything here.

I’ll eventually finish importing all the previous posts, dating back to 2002 and jazz up the photos page, which is non-existent for the time being.

Itchy Fingers

shoes on a wire

Having spent a great deal of time using Toshio Iwai‘s Electroplankton, I am very, very much wanting his latest project, created with Yamaha: Tenori-on.

Sir Ranjit Bhatnagar has also kindly hipped me onto Monome, based out of Philadelphia, who are handcrafting a similar device for sale soon (check out their vids).

O Christmas time, how I wish you would come early this year.

Chronicle

chronicle blurb

I just happened upon this at lunch today and wanted to jump up and down, shouting with glee.

This past spring (when I was a Vox user), I posted a YouTube link for a trailer of the (then) upcoming Chicago Underground Trio DVD Chronicle and wrote a wee bit. It seems that someone from Delmark happened upon my post and found it blurb-worthy, as I discovered this ad this afternoon in the July 2007 issue of The Wire.

Back when I wrote music reviews on a semi-regular basis, I sometimes dreamt of a band using a blurb of mine on a CD sticker and of writing something for The Wire.

I can kinda/sorta check those items off now.

Congrats, Jay!

On another note, Molly’s seven months old today!

Oh, and I’m 18 years at the same job. I thought I’d be there a year to save up for school.

I start school this Saturday.
