TO QUOTE THE GREAT PROFESSOR Hubert Farnsworth: “Sweet Zombie Jesus!”
After all these years, Apple is finally opening a store in Toronto. Granted, it’s way the hell up by the 401, but still in the GTA.

SINCE SCHOOL HAS FINISHED for the time being, I’ve been getting out to see live music on an almost weekly basis. My pal Drew and I caught the awesome Scott Herren a.k.a. Prefuse 73 at Lee’s Palace earlier this week, featuring the wonderful MC skills and poetry of Beans with his local backing band, Holy Fuck, in the opening slot. However, the night belonged to NYC math-rockers Battles: somewhat of a “supergroup” featuring ex-members of Helmet and Don Caballero. Having not followed either of those groups for some years now, I was unaware of this project and was completely blown away by them. Following their crunchy set of Crimson-esque riffage and ball-crushing beats, I overhead someone with a huge grin on his face say that he’d might as well leave now (after having been rocked-the-fuck out). Barely having two dimes to rub together at the show, I’m planning on dashing out this coming pay day to scoop up anything of theirs I can find. Monsters of rock – I have been inspired again.
Eat Fat to Lose Fat: Krispy Kreme for breakfast from now on?
Vacation Day? I’m trying for the 20th!
Chimp Art: At least he used paint.
Everything Bad: Recently added to the ever-growing pile o’ stuff to read.
HAVING HAD MY BIKE STOLEN from the basement of our building was a total fucking drag. Having no bike now that spring is in full swing is an even bigger one, especially since riding to the gym would have me warmed up by the time I got there.
Seeing the boy in action and having a pile of fun on his new ride was all it took to get me to buy a bike of my own.
ONE OF THE FIRST SONGS that my now four-year-old son took to was “Bike” by Pink Floyd of their classic Piper at the Gates of Dawn. This quirky and very likable song had been the subject of much discussion on the Pink Floyd and Syd Barrett Story.
This evening, Elliot and I paid a visit to our local Canadian Tire to get him his first bike. At first, he was a bit hesitant to try it out in the store, stating that he’d wait ’til after I bought it for him. Uh, yeah. After a wee bit of coaxing he was whipping around the store like a daredevil. I couldn’t help saying under my breath “Fuck, my kid is riding a bike now!” I mean, come on…already!?
As you can imagine, not only does the boy now have his very own bike, but also a theme song to go along with it as he pedals.
