Sad news in the local jazz scene. I found out from my father-in-law this morning that drummer Jerry Fuller had passed away in the last week. I was a big fan of his playing and used see him a lot when Laurel and I lived downtown. When I started playing jazz I would attempt to emulate his style from the records he played on and the gigs I saw. I hadn’t seen him in the last couple of years since becoming a Dad, and am sad to know that I won’t be.

Ah, Friday
Congratulations Drew!
We’re back this evening from a westward trail ride along the lake to our friends Chris and Marc’s place in Port Credit. The weather has cooled down to the low 20s and the breeze made it all the nicer. The perfect end to a long week.

For the Kid-at-Heart
Happy Birthday Myke!
The Rainforest Cafe here in Toronto was the place for a family get together last night. It’s one of those kinda places that’s just as entertaining for the adults as the kids. Elliot had a blast watching all the mechanical animals (especially the gorillas).

Taxi
Thanks to Jon Whitney for the movie recommendation. Not to be confused with Taxi Driver, or the television program, Taxi is a French flick written by Luc Besson that blows away a lot of North American action/comedy blockbusters.
The sandwiches in this movie are most droolworthy.

Seeing the Neighbourhood from a Two-Wheeler
Elliot bounced back like a pro. Speedy recovery? Yes.
I had a two hour bike ride to the downtown and back. I went to our old neighbourhood video store to rent a couple of flicks which were unavailable locally. I hadn’t ridden in a long time, nor for such a long time. It was great! Next will be to start exploring the great lakeside trails in the neighbourhood that Laurel really digs. My neighbourhood gets better every time I go for a ride.
