Not One to Look the Gift Horse in the Mouth

Happy Birthday, me.

The car’s been given a temporary extension. The weather is nice. I’m having pizza for dinner and sleeping in ‘til at least 7am tomorrow!

If anyone feels like buying me the Twilight Zone boxset on DVD, by all means, please get in touch and do so! Just kidding. Maybe. Naw, just kidding. Hmm, maybe not. Etc.

Ringtone, Take Me Away

Happy Birthday, bros.

Well, with a birthday just around the corner, it’s that time to have the emissions test done on the ailing VW to make sure it’s legally fit to be on the road. The emissions test passed – the safety test failed. The underside is so rusted out that it’s begun to crumble away and leave holes, making it just a touch on the not-so-good side of things. We’ll have to see if some gum and sticky tape can hold it all together, with a little bit of love! That and a trip to the bodyshop.

In the toys department, the mobile phone has now been upgraded to the Kyocera 5135 clamshell model. Something I’ve always wanted was a ringtone of the motif from Close Encounter of the Third Kind that the aliens communicate with. As this phone supports ringtones, I so had to get it. Laurel now rolls her eyes when the phone goes off in a public place.

Go Get Quicktime

As I’ve recently registered my version of Quicktime and have been tooling around with it when time permits, I’d like to encourage those of you that read this stuff to download the latest version and enjoy the extra bits that’ll be popping up around here.

The boy got into a box of crayons a couple ‘o days ago when we weren’t looking and decided to decorate while expressing his artistic side (128K).

We’re into the home stretch of chicken pox, which is good since we’re starting the first long weekend of the spring/summer season. And yes, it’s still cold and rainy but the windshield’s in to get fixed. Finally.

Sing Along if You Know the Words

First off, Happy Mother’s Day to my Mom and to Laurel!

What better way than to spend Mother’s Day than minding your two-and-a-half year old who’s currently got chicken pox. Sorry it worked out that way. At least he’s getting them now rather than when he’s in his twenties. Dinner at a Thai restaurant and a movie in an actual theatre are owing.

As I was home on Friday tending to the freshly blossoming boy, I decided that it was time to upgrade my version of Quicktime to the Pro version and start tooling around with the six months worth of avi movies from the digital camera that I’ve been piling into a desktop folder. As I’m still wet behind the ears as a Quicktime Pro user and video edit guy, any suggestions you may want to send my way would be much appreciated. In the meantime, you can check out my first attempt in the form of Elliot’s music video (NOTE: close to 7 megs in size).

The bikes are back on the road and running real smooth-like. We actually had clear weather and a co-operative boy long enough to have a 10K ride yesterday afternoon as the temperature was dropping. C’mon. It’s May already. Nearly mid-May for that matter.

When it Rains, It Snows

So much for a stretch of nice weather. We went ‘round our neighbours place on Saturday where we keep our bikes stored to dig ‘em out from under the last bit of covering that hadn’t blown over the last couple of snow storms and take ‘em into the local shop to have the yearly tune-up done. Not expecting to be doing any biking that day, we were told to expect a call by Tuesday or thereabouts. Cool. I haven’t been on my bike since probably November last year, which also means that I haven’t excercised since then!

Yesterday was gorgeous out and all we kept talking about was how nice it’ll be to do some riding this week. Yeah. Family bike rides down around the lakefront. That’ll be so nice.

Since we ended up with so much frickin’ snow throughout April, it now appears that the April showers weren’t skipped over, just carried over into the month of May. With interest. As we’re now in no rush to pick the bikes up I guess it’s time to get that leaky windshield sealed to avoid sitting down to wet car seats once again.
