If There Really is a Santa Claus*…

…he’d buy me this for Christmas. I’ve been better this year than in years past. Truly, I have.

*Note: It could be any overly generous heart, really.

Funny, I DO Feel Flu-ish

AFTER ALL THE SCARE-MONGERING IN THE MEDIA, the inescapable advertisements, the disapproval and clucking tongues of those that have gone forth long before, I finally decided to get a flu shot. Mind you, it was on a whim as I happened to be parked in front of a medical clinic that happened to have an 8.5 x 11 Word printout, something like “Flu Shots Here” taped up in the window. Working in an office environment, having a young son and a wife that teaches Kindergarten, it seemed like the responsible thing to do. Afterwards, I arrived back at the car to find a $20 parking ticket, having overstayed my welcome on Queen West. A small price to pay for good health and piece of mind.

Of course, with the flu shot now comes…wait for it…the flu.

Funny that.

First of the Year End Lists

WHEN TIME IS TIGHT AND YOU WANNA POST, there’s always the option of a good ol’ list. Being a third of the way into December, this will probably be the first of a few:

* David Watanabe’s NewsFire RSS Reader: I’ve checked out a few other readers and prefer the simple layout and live updates on feeds. That and the cool dissolve when quitting the application. His other Cocoa-based application Acquisition also rocks large.

* Nuts to the laptop. Both left and right.

* Speaking of laptops, StrongBad is accepting emails again.

* The 2004 Brainwashed Readers’ Poll is happening.

* Puppet sex sans sound. Definitely not work safe.

* The book I’m currently enjoying which I don’t want to read too fast, since it’s that good. If I’m buying you a Christmas gift this year….surprise!

* Where the hell is he these days?

Now that I’ve written my midterm exam and completed Shambhala Level II training, I’ll hopefully get caught up on stuff like, oh, I don’t know, housework, organizing boxes of slides and figuring out what the hell we’re doing for the holidays.

And the boy’s birthday next weekend.

Jamming at the Ratspace

WITH EVERYONE’S SCHEDULES STARTING TO GET CRAZY just in time for the start of the holiday season, Lebagerine managed to hole up for an hour at a Toronto rehearsal studio with two microphones set up, as to preserve it all for posterity. Below are some mp3s for your listening pleasure.

Keep in mind, this is not a professional recording. Therefore, the quality is as would be expected. All the stuff you hear was pieced together on the fly.

Still, not too shabby.

Cliché Involving the Word “Parrish” Goes Here

EARLIER IN THE DAY I WAS PLANNING on posting about the oxymoron known as Fox News coming to Canadian airwaves, until just after two o’clock this afternoon when this story broke.

For those of you not familiar with Ms. Parrish’s “work”, you can find a summary of some of her finest moments over here.

The PM has finally done what many wished had been done ages ago. If she were my MP, I’d be down at her office first thing in the morning along with the mob carrying torches and pitchforks. It’s one thing to be outspoken, but when the brain and the mouth are constantly not in sync and you happen to be an elected representative, it’s just ignorant.

As for Mr. Harper, who called for Parrish’s removal from the Liberal caucus: If dropping this loose cannon from the caucus was a sign of bad leadership on the PM‘s part, will he be extending a welcoming hand across the aisle?

I didn’t think so.
